I mean, come on! It's the Tiffany network! The Murrow Boys started it all on some of these same CBS stations. Even in a world of stratified media, with podcasts, iPhone, Youtube, etc., competing for an ever-slimmer share of the audience pie, the CBS Radio Network name still holds a certain level of cache and prestige.

The extra scratch doesn't hurt, either.

The latest case in point, my story on the latest congressional effort to restrict Viagra and other erectile-dysfunction drug ads to late-night hours, as heard on the CBS Radio Network (at 6:04 p.m. EDT Tuesday, May 5th, don't you know).

CBS News, Washington. Even as an infrequent contributor, it's still has a nice ring when my name's next to it.

The WTOP version of the story lives here. Look at all the comments! Viva Viagra, indeed.

Oh, and WTOP has a nice ring to it, too.

My swine flu playlist

First, a caveat. I realize this is a grim situation in Mexico. The entire country's schools are closed. More than 100 people have died. More than a thousand are sick. But the chances are still good that we won't have a pandemic. Almost all the cases north of the border have been mild. And a little gallows humor never hurt anybody. (If it hurts you, please tell me and I'll stand corrected.)

Here, now, a list of songs that have crossed my mind since the news broke on the 25th:

Piggies, The Beatles
Pigs (Three Different Ones), Pink Floyd
March of the Pigs, Nine Inch Nails
War Pigs, Black Sabbath
Mexico, James Taylor
Don't Panic, Coldplay
